Join me...

on my journey to lands I have dreamed of visiting, and lands I have never imagined visiting.  At the end of each post are my observations of the culture, the politics, and the people  - commentary encouraged!

A grateful thank you to my mother and my aunt, who made it all possible!  Thanks also to staff of Seabourn Encore, who made it fun, and ridiculously and elegantly over the top.

At Sea

At Sea

At least two lectures per day, a well-equipped fitness center, themed parties, dinners, and mixers, plus world-class entertainment throughout the day left little time to get bored on our nine full "at sea" days.  No glass remains unfilled on Encore, and no request is too grand.  61 chefs with 20 support staff work the kitchen, supplying several restaurants - including the Thomas Keller-designed Grille.  Our tour with the Executive Chef was an fascinating look at the operations behind the scene.

Most evenings were "elegant casual", with two formal nights.  It was lovely to see the guests break out their tuxes and sparkles.  Arabian Night was magical as many guests purchased outfits in port at Aqaba.

We loved meeting new friends from all over the world - from Hong Kong to California, with crazy hilarious Australians everywhere.

Linda's birthday mid-voyage consisted of a quick call to room service for foie gras, cheese and charcuterie board, and of course champagne!
